One thing I learnt about the dress
And among so many people I asked, I forgot to ask the one who’d opinions should matter most: my husband-to-be. His answer made me very happy. And I should now declare that I have ended my search for THE dress. I didn’t find it, or it wasn’t within my budget so I’ll stick with my best option. I am happy. :)

Wisdom for brides-to-be (Part 1)
It’s been four months since I started planning our wedding. :) Although I must admit that I’ve been a pretty awful bride. I care about the house renovation, furniture, fixtures and fittings more than I ever think about the wedding. And here is exactly where Yew Gene and I go so well together. I thought it’s about high time I do a reflection on it. 1. Find out what matters MOST...

Of green apples and all the things that curse my...
We had dinner at his place just two days ago and I left my retainers on his table. And I had to be stubborn and eat my daily green apples that’ll definitely hurt my teeth. I just don’t care. He promised to bring along my retainers when we planned for our date tonight. BUT he forgot. I was alright and totally didn’t mind because, with OR without retainers, my green apple...

The first day of Autumn in Paris
5th September 2011, 2:30pm (+1 GMT) I felt the breeze turned chilly and the leaves on the tress were turning red and orange. I carried my knapsack on my bag and smiled as I walked past Jardin de Luxembourg towards our hostel and thought to myself, “I am so blessed to see summer turn into fall.” It was the first day of autumn. Seasonal changes are always significant. They mark a new...

I am such a nerd
Hours in the library and it’s one of the happiest times I spent here in Cambridge. Maybe because it’s Cambridge? Hmm. Anyway, I was writing my Shakespeare essay that I’ve been putting it off for 2 weeks! When it comes to procrastination, I’m unbeatable. Ask my sister. She knows that I still have boxes in my room. Unpacked. But when I sit and try to do something, focus and...

For my sister
I was sitting on the lawn studying with my friends one sunny evening and saw many ladybirds coming towards us. And I was so thrilled because I generally love bugs! I caught one and put it on this dried leaf and got my BB out and snapped a picture of it. Suddenly I remembered my sister because we use to live near a humongous tree when we were younger. Our parents park their cars underneath its...

A weekend in London
I AM BACK!! You know what? Setting foot in London has never made me feel this way: I am more grateful for Cambridge than ever! No wonder Cambridge is UK’s 2nd most popular choice of residence after London. Please don’t get me wrong, I heart London. Who doesn’t? The Underground experience is the best and my best buy is the Oyster card. haha! But seriously, I am such a city girl....

Croquet
I finally played croquet today! Not with a pink flamingo as a mallard or a sleepy hedgehog as a ball but this is REALLY a very nice and posh game. You could have long conversations in between, have fancy drinks, wear WHATEVER you like and play it whichever way you like to. :) I’d do it again next week after my exams, I think.  What I watched in Alice in Wonderland when I was 5, I had no...

Cycling around Cambridge
The best things to do in Cambridge apart from punting must be cycling :) And that’s what Jessie and I decided to do yesterday while Grace, Jessica and Kwong are having a great time in Amsterdam. On the way to hire our bikes (only £6 for 4 hours!) at Fen Causeway, we saw these: Blackberries!  And guess what? Jessie couldn’t resist eating them like how she ate the wild blueberries...

Marilyn.
I love Marilyn :) Isn’t this one of the best pictures of her? Sometimes you just had to know about things you don’t want to know. I never think that “Ignorance is Bliss”. I think “Ignorance is PURE Stupidity”. I like what she said about how sometimes, “good things fall apart so that better things can fall together”. :) I am so tired....

Quintessentially English
So we did all the touristy things, we ploughed through our assignments and guess what? Still not done! Please don’t think we’ve been partying and drinking every night because Cambridge “has no life” :p LOL! Everything shuts down by 6pm latest!  Well, actually, not quite. I just came back from exploring some other streets behind my college and found a number of pubs open....

Just when you think God doesn't speak to you...
After 4 days in Lake District and 3 days in Newcastle, Grace and I are finally “home” at Driffield. It was awful not having to check my email especially there are some work related emails that I must keep track of as I’m away. And it’s needless to say that, for me, staying away from technology has been really difficult. I have so many sights to show you and so many stories...

Hello! Thank you for your comments and it’s really cacat, this Tumblr! I can’t comment on my posts so please know that I’m still reading your commenst and acknowledging them but cannot reply. Weird. Anyway, yesterday I came back really late from having a traditional English dinner. And my uncle being English, headed right out to the pub even though we got home at 12am, like a...

What a beautiful day in London!
Hello everyone! Grace and I have finally arrived at London. Well, we are now in Driffield to be exact and that’s where my Uncle Dave and Aunty stays! Here we are, finally, after travelling for 25 hours wearing the same pair of stinky poo pants and smelly jacket, gross hair and oily face….in a classic metal Victorian bed in a cozy room done up by my lovely aunt. You see, my cool...

Hello and goodbye.
There’s a reason why I hate packing so much. Reason #1. LAZY Reason #2. I don’t like the bittersweet feeling. Reason #3. It’s just hard to say goodbye. Thank God I’ll only be gone for 3 months. I wonder how my friends do it, not when they leave to study for a year or two, but when they leave this country they call home, for good. Or perhaps they’ve never called...

It will be alright
Somedays you’re just thrown lemons at and no one told you you’re already in the game of sour lemons dodge ball. Which clearly explains why you can’t dodge because how can you when you didn’t even see it coming?! And then you tell yourself, “it will be alright. They are just mere lemons. Not bombs.” Believe me, that’ll be a whole different story. Then...

I know in my mind what I will surely bring with me (in very random order): Hairdryer and comb :p Purple Nikes Hellolulu bag Pretty skirts Books Stationery Sothy’s ;) Shu Uemura Notebook Macbook ...

So, you wanna bake a cake :)
This delicious Victoria Sponge Cake recipe is taken from frame>by>frame baking by Love Food. It’s a very simple, fuss-free and light cake. If you’d like something more elaborate, or want to experiment cakes with different types of fruits and cream/cheese, BBC Good Food has very good recipes of many which I have tried and worked exceptionally well. :) Happy baking!

What shall we talk about today?
A mélange of topics and a myriad things. In exactly 30 days, I’ll be on my way to UK with Grace. I’ll miss my family, my friends, my church, my students, my job and most definitely, Yew Gene. Sometimes I wonder if he’ll be okay when I’m not around. Other times, I just thank God I’ll be away from him for a short term and to my unwavering hopes, vigorously hoping that...

Baking Spree: Pecan Pie
My brother said it looked more like cockroach pie haha! It does actually. Looked like the bodies of the bug has just been snapped and made into a pie. If I were a witch, I’d probably do that. Remember the human meat pies in Sweeny Todd? UGH! Anyway, as you can see, I pinched the side of the pie to make it look like one :p I discovered that homemakers long ago have a perfect reason as to...

Lemon Drizzle Cake
Here’s a recipe I’ve been itching to try since my mom’s birthday last month. I wanted to bake it for her but she insisted I shouldn’t make a mess or trouble myself! Lol! Mothers… :) So today I baked, again. I’m on a baking spree because I thoroughly enjoy the ‘mess’ and ‘trouble’ as my mom calls it and because I’m trying to get...

Banana Cake with a (lemon) twist
So I was hanging out at Yew Gene’s place yesterday and saw Poh Ling Yeow’s cookbook lying on the table. I started flipping thorough the scrapbook-like recipes and looked at the pretty colours and pictures, not to mention her lovely photographs too, and came across what she claimed to be the best banana cake. I’m not huge on cakes or anything sweet so I can’t really tell....

The Evil Butter Cake
I baked again the other day and this time, my very first successful cake! In terms of deliciousness and how it’s not runny inside ;p. Oh, if you minus the evil looking cake that looks alot like the Jack-O-Lantern, my cake, is the epitome of perfection. NAH! Lol!   My sister asked me if I purposefully carved a face there. I was so enthralled by her question and was too tempted to say yes...

Regal love
Did I actually overheard the BBC Royal Wedding commentator say tonight that every wedding is a royal wedding? I could’ve made it all up :P Had such a great time with Cheryl and Claire watching Prince William and Kate M and HAD to blog about it. I’ve never actually been so crazy about the royal family but watching this history in action was exciting. The whole ceremony was boring okay...

Emulating my dad
This is surely nothing to brag about but now I can tell my dad, “With my 2 saving accounts joined with the amount I have in my pocket, they don’t even add up to RM50.” So, dad. I know what it’s like when you were younger, poorer and had to stinge and live on bread. I do it slightly differently because I live under your roof; so I eat your food hehe Nonetheless, I’m...
